(X-posted from Therioshamanism:… )

To my dear readers,

Being as open a person as I am about my art, spirituality, and the like, it's inevitable that I take flak from haters (as the kids are calling it these days) now and then. I know it happens to a lot of you, whether you're a fellow artist/collector of hides and bones and the like, or a member of a minority religion, or just someone who had the misfortune to be targeted by a pack of bullies feeling their actions are justified by their ideals. If you've ever had to deal with that, I'm incredibly sorry; it's not something I'd wish on anyone, even someone I disagree with.

Do you know how we can counter this? Kindness. As Ian Maclaren said, "A thought to help us through these difficult times: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."

And that brings me to what I want to say to you folks out there: thank you for being kind to me.

Thank you for every kind word, every compliment about my art or writing or anything else I share with you.

Thank you for every time you've thanked me when I've been able to help you, and along with that thank you for extending me the opportunity to be of assistance.

Thank you for giving up a few moments of your time to express appreciation and to brighten my day a little more.

Because it really does help. I know human beings are more likely to speak up (loudly!) when we're upset about something. It's more of a challenge to say something kind, not because the act is difficult in and of itself, or because we're bad people, but because we tend to be complacent when things are going well. It just doesn't occur to us to say anything then.

But it does make a huge impact on the person you say it to. We do get really used to only hearing from others when things are wrong, so when we do say kind things to each other, that one small moment can have a lot of power. I know there have been times when I've been pulled out of some really dark places in my life simply because somebody took the time to say something nice. When I'm having a tough time of things, I do go back and look at some of those appreciative emails, comments, messages and the like that you all have sent me over time.

So please do keep that in mind. If you know somebody who's in a bad place, consider taking a few moments to show them some kindness and appreciation. You never know just how much a couple of sentences at the right time can help a person out.

Yours truly,

I completely agree, people need all to be nicer to each other.

Too right. Even if someone is being mean to me, I be as nice as can be. Usually they have a reason to be mean.

Wonderfully said and thank YOU Lupa for everything you do :-)

 You've handled some pointed and nasty comments very gracefully, and if more manage to rear their heads I wish you the best of luck with it (though of course there will always be more in the future, for as long as humans can have free will).

Never forget there are many lives you've touched, people you've inspired, helped, and are even an idol to, there's the great good you've done for plants, animals, habitat, and our world as a whole, and so many people out there who enjoy your crafts (whether it is writing or something that can be worn or used or otherwise appreciated). You are a wonderful person, and at times when I think of you I remember what a psychic I went to told me (something along the lines of I would meet someone while I was in college who would become a big influence like a teacher in my life, sometimes I wonder if she meant you; she did say she felt it was a female and at the time I wondered if it'd be my new counselor, but I've just been so inspired by you and learned quite a bit from your writings and personal advice...I would say you've helped me in my journey growing as a person, and I'm sorry if I'm being creepy or anything because I'm sure I am, haha, but seriously, thank you for being you, such a kind, generous, open minded, caring soul. I could never thank you enough for simply being you).

Best wishes with this recent tide of people who only wish to oppose you. This too shall pass, so hold steady and remember there are many of us out here who would love to be your rock if you should ever need it =)

Very well said. And thank you for being such a strong and supportive member in this community. I feel like I can ask you anything, no matter how stupid the question is and you will always try to answer it to the best of your ability.

Oh, and on an off topic subject. I recently bought a piebald coyote face and am wanting to make it in to a wearable mask. It is missing ears though and I was wondering if you might have some that would match? All I need are the ears, nothing fancy. I will send pics once I receive the face.

Would regular, reddish-brown coyote ears work?
PersianButterfly Featured By Owner Mar 10, 2013
Possibly. I have yet to receive it so I am not 100% sure. I can post pics though once I get it in the mail so you have a better idea.

An awesome artist and person like you deserves that kindness. :) For every "hater" that is out there, there are ten more who support you!

And thank you for being such a positive force in this community. It saddens me when sometime some in this line of work turn against each other because they disagree with what another person is doing.

so, again I thank you for being the wonderful open person you are, and for being so supportive towards others.
