Description: The centerpiece of this necklace is a beautiful piece of Louisiana petrified wood, straight out of my rock tumbler. I wanted a way to hang it on a cord without using metal, and so I came up with the idea of a leather bail, which I made from part of an old jacket and adorned with a tiny dot of gold paint on each side. It's on a hand-braided cord of black-dyed hemp; the hemp is a little rough and I trimmed the longer stray filaments, while the rest should wear off over time. Animal, vegetable and mineral, all in one!
