This is one of five pictures of this project.

So, following on the heels (hocks?) of the Okami-inspired tail, I wanted to also do one inspired by one of my favorite movies ever, Mononoke Hime/Princess Mononoke. And since Zhon provided me with two tails, so much the better!

I started with a real Arctic wolf tail, again 24" long and just AMAZINGLY gorgeous and plush and beautiful! I decided to go with black suede leather from a jacket for the back part of the belt, and the braided portion is more of the same, plus blue and green leather, also from coats. The entire belt is 88" long, so it will fit just about anyone. (My waist is 29", and there was LOTS of slack left.) And I am 5'4", so you can see how the tail hangs on me; it will look good on people of many different heights!

The decoration on the back of the belt features three hand-painted red triangles akin to those on San's face; I especially loved this feature of hers because they enhance a snarling facial expression (yes, I tried it the first time I cosplayed her). They're flanked by four coyote canines, two on each side, to represent her fang necklace. The obsidian knife given to her by Ashitaka is mirrored in the small obsidian arrowhead on a red cord hanging over the top of the tail.

And I gave this tail belt pouches as well. They're more of the upcycled black suede and hand-stitched with artificial sinew. The toggles, around which leather ties create a closure, are two large, beautiful slices of caribou antler. These represent the Great Forest Spirit, protector of the wilderness San lived in.

This IS for sale; it's not up on Etsy just yet because I wanted folks who watch me on various social media networks to get first crack at it. The price is $250 plus shipping, insurance and delivery confirmation; this reflects not only the quality of the materials, but also the amount of time and effort that went into creating this. I do not intend to duplicate it, so this is your one chance! Layaway is available, and I also accept money orders, Paypal, and I can take a credit card if you're in Portland.

Sorry, but this cannot be sold to people in CA or NY, and no international sales.

I now have envy for arctic wolf tail.... I can't afford most of the wolf parts I've seen for sale. LOL But omg.... if I could... would be all over this.

Glad you like it that much, and thank you! FWIW, I do have a layaway plan consisting of "how much can you pay down, and how long will it reasonably take you to pay off the rest?" :)

XD That'd be like... $10 and who the heck knows because it depends if I find a non-sucky job. LOL So... probably not a good idea.

I'd offer to see if I have anything I can trade but somehow I doubt I have anything that'd be worth this. LOL Gahhh.

Crossing my fingers that it'll still be there by then. Arctic wolf tails are hard to find. Arctic wolf parts at all, really...
