Cherry wood rune set + leather pouch by lupagreenwolf Cherry wood rune set + leather pouch by lupagreenwolf
Most of my rune and ogam sets are deer antler; however, I recently came upon some nicely sanded slices of natural cherry wood cut from a rather stout branch, bark still on them. These are not tiny little quarter-sized slices, but each is about 1 3/4" in diameter. Instead of burning them like everybody else does, I painted them in brown and copper paint, and gave the painted side a light but effective sealant (the back sides are still all natural wood). Much nicer than "dowel rod" sets!

They're in a sturdy suede leather pouch, app. 6" x 6", made from secondhand scrap; they're a bit of a snug fit due to their size, but it keeps them safe and sound, much better than a cheap mass-manufactured fabric one would.

This is a one of a kind set; I do not currently have enough slices for another. Get this one while you can!

Price: $40.00

I like how the paint mimics the traditional use of blood.

Thank you :) Most of my sets are carved, unpainted antler because I want the people who buy them to have the opportunity to "paint" them themselves if they like.

How long would you say it took you to make that set?

Oh, geez, I'm not even sure. I made it in the middle of a bunch of other projects, since I needed something to do while the layers of paint dried. So total amount of labor maybe somewhere around an hour, not including waiting?

Oh wow. That doesn't seem long at all for what I'd think it would take.

Keep in mind that I didn't make the slices myself; I just painted and sealed them and made the pouch.

Oh, then yeah that would probably take longer.
