A Wolf - Bear Hybrid?! by lupagreenwolf A Wolf - Bear Hybrid?! by lupagreenwolf
Soooo....you know how in the past few weeks I got a flurry of commissions for wolf headdresses, something like eleven of them within a month's time? Well, I'm getting down to the last few, and I wanted to show off what was by far THE biggest hide of the lot--and, I believe, the biggest wolf hide I've ever worked with in my fifteen year career! He was sent to me by a customer who wants him converted to a headdress, and as I'm about to work on him this week I wanted to get a "before" pic.

This guy is ENORMOUS--I was joking to my partner that "Wow, I didn't know wolves and bears could mate!" See that picture? That's me holding him, right up against me, not out in front to make him look bigger. I am 5'4", standing on my tiptoes, stretching as high as I can to hold this wolf up, and his tail's STILL dragging the ground. I can only imagine what a monster he was when he was alive.

It is a true honor to work with this wolf, as it is with all of them, and I can't wait to see how he turns out.

Is that that artificial hide?

Everything I work with is real; most of what I work with ia reclaimed or recycled in some way. In this case, someone sent me a hide that they had been given many years ago to rework into a headdress.

So you shot a wolf and took its fur or just got one?

So this came from a dead wolf?

Well, it's definitely not a live one at this point! I don't know the exact origin of it since it came form another person who got it from another person and it was pretty old by the time I worked with it. That's as much as I know.

Never been hunting in my life, and even if I did it'd mainly be for food. I do what i do to reclaim remains and keep them from being wasted, as well as to be able to donate some of the money to groups that benefit wildlife and their habitats. Please feel free to ask questions about my work any time :)

I agree. Sadly, I am incapable of resurrecting dead critters, and so doing kinder things with their remains and donating some of the proceeds to groups like Defenders of Wildlife is as close as I can get.

And your so gay for saying that! Would you rather the wolf had of died somewhere in the wild, and for it to have rotted away to nothing, with absolutely nothing to show for for how beautiful it once was? At least if its made into a headdress, someone can love and care for it, and possibly pass it down through they're family, without it being completely ruined. So if you dont like it, GTFO!!

WHy? I didn't kill it. I took a hide someone had hanging in their home and turned it into something more honorable. Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions; ask questions instead.

I sometimes wonder what a werewolf pelt WOULD look like, since they're sometimes shown as bipedal. Hmmm.

Same, werewolves are also sometimes depicted on all fours, it WOULD be an extremely interesting pelt. But, sometimes I wonder if people confused a bear for a werewolf....

I hope you understand me,
Taxidermy is art by definition this is no different then an artist taking a picture of there paint brushes before they paint. Like all art this is bound to stir mixed feelings, accept that and move on. This will also become a highly spiritual piece and I am going to venture to guess you don't go into to churches and mosques telling them to stop practicing because you find it offensive. Just because we pagans aren't as large in numbers as some organized religions doesn't mean we deserve any less respect.

Also this artist has been nothing but kind to everyone on this page so why did you feel the need to insult a person that has not harmed you, or come to your page telling you to stop posting what you feel is art.

im really ..... that someone who has wolf in his nickname is agree with killing wolfs, killing to eat is good, killing to defend someone is good but killing for have fun it must be the worst thing you can do. If she killed its because the wolf attact her i pass it but he is dressing like a hunter so i dont think it was de reason.

i dont know if the person of the photo is you.

Lupa doesn't kill the stuff herself, she didn't even buy it. It belongs to someone else who sent it to her. She prepares animal skins for religious purposes.

Holy jeebus...

Find a white hide that humongous and that would be along the lines of my skin I've been idly hunting for (I do believe someone found one of that description that I had to pass up due to broke-ness... I think Mino? argh I wanted it so much though, and for like $900 or whatever it was, it was a freaking steal)

There is an unusual air of familiarity about that skin, though. Have an insane urge to touch it. More so than even other pics of fuzzy things... o.o;

That's likely because he is, correction was, not a normal wolf. Not necessarily...supernatural or anything, but imbued with power in life that many animals never come in contact with, especially humans

Yeah, there's definitely that (and I think "is" still applies - the spirit remains and still holds a certain something, otherwise the hide would not draw me quite so much)... just also feels like it's someone I know, if that makes any sense. Like some family connection long past and all but forgotten...
